Contin. from homeblog: "Go to a movie . . . go to jail"
The only test is could anyone feel their faith and beliefs are offended.
All non-Christians could make a complaint to the police about any C.S.Lewis work.
Witches, Pagans, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and atheists can all claim they have been hated on religious grounds if someone is reading a C.S. Lewis book on a train.
The C.S. Lewis confirmed in 1961 that The Chronicles Of Narnia are allegories of The Christian faith that Jesus is God who both died and rose from the dead.
Other C.S. Lewis books such as "Mere Christianity" is an apologetic work aiming to persuade the reader of the truth of Jesus Christ's claims to be God and to have created the world. It also argues other religions are untrue and illogical.
"The Screwtape Letters" does the same thing by considering the point of view of satan and the demons in Hell who know Jesus is God.
The same lawyers who made hundreds of millions from criminal and civil litigation in the existing "race hate industry" expect to earn ten times more from "the religious hatred business".
The Racial and Religious Hatred Bill gets its next reading in The House Of Lords on December 19.
The Government has rejected Amendments suggested by Lord Carey former Archbishop of Canterbury.
He insisted that for the crime of hatred that it was essential to prove the intention of the person being accused.
The Government has said that it is not necessary to consider the intention on the part of the person accused of religious hatred. The Government is not concerned that people may be sent to prison even if they had no idea anyone could be offended.
So if you are a restaurant serving beef or pork, then Hindu and Sikh people can claim you are hating them on religious grounds.
If you are serving Frogs' Legs in a French Restaurant, a frog worshipper can have you prosecuted, sent to jail and then sue you.
If The Lords approve The Bill, then The House of Commons will almost certainly push through the law on December20 before The Christmas Break.
On Tuesday night, 29th November, a very large group of Christians from the Parliamentary constituency of Enfield North met with Home Office Minister, Paul Goggins, at Westminster, to confront him onthe subject of the Racial and Religious Hatred Bill.
The meeting was organised by the sitting Labour MP, Joan Ryan, following her inundation by constituents visiting and writing to her about their concerns.
The Evangelical Aliance said through an official spokesman: "We are extremely grateful to all our members who so magnificently responded to our call to press their MPs regarding this Bill which represents a serious threat to the continuance of free speech in our country.
Joan Ryan is only too aware of her slim majority in the constituency of Enfield North and clearly fears a future election backlash over this unpopular piece of legislation.
When asked to guarantee that the Government would not undo in the Commons the changes that had been made by a 149 majority in the House of Lords, he was unwilling to do so.
In fact, information gained today confirms that the Bill will receive its 3rd Reading in the Lords on 19th December, with the Government effectively seeking to
re-introduce most of the previous Bill whilst
attempting to convince as many people as possible that they have made real concessions.
But the so-called ‘concessions’ will not do much to remove the dangers of chilling free speech and potential for prosecution under this Bill.
Along with most Christian groups and others, we are worried that the Government will try to force their will through Parliament, even perhaps taking advantage
of the fact that most of the Lords will have departed for the Christmas holidays by 20th December when they might well seek to sneak the Bill through in their absence.
Accordingly, we are currently planning further protests outside Parliament for both 19th and 20th December and would ask Christians everywhere to consider joining us on those days – details to be announced in due course – keep an eye on news updates.
At the same time we are encouraging Christians to continue to visit and write to their MPs to express their concerns about the Government’s apparent failure to deliver their promise to compromise and ‘find a
middle way’.
We are appealling for Christians in every country, especially The United States, to pray for us.
We are on the brink of being like Russia under Communism.
The Government proposals as they stand would effectively return the Bill virtually to its original form and would be completely unacceptable to those who have campaigned long and hard against what is in essence a frighteningly bad piece of legislation.
Labour MPs in particular (especially those in marginal constituencies) should be targeted and arrangements made to speak to them personally – either in their constituencies, or in the House of Commons on the 19th
and 20th December.
We have already seen how Christians working together can make a difference. But we need to continue the good work. Please do all you can, whether through prayer, direct action – or both – to keep up the
pressure and make our Christian voice heard and thereby hopefully protect treasured liberties for the nation ".
Most Christian Groups believe this is the thin end of the wedge to start criminalising and persecuting Christians for their faith.
The Christian faith has been the official faith in England since at least 890 A.D. under King Alfred The Great.
However, over two-thirds of Christmas office parties and references to Christ have disappeared from public places in the last three years.
This is under the present P.C. (Political Correctness) laws which will be a hundred times stronger under the new Racial and Religious Hared Law.
Even The Queen's Coronation Oath can be subject to criminal prosecution as she commits the nation to The kingship of Jesus Christ, The one true God.
Last year Australian religious vilification law led to a judge sending a Christian from Pakistan to prison because he told people that his home had been burned down because he would not convert to Islam.
The Court accepted the story was true, but it still offended three Muslims who heard about it and the truth of the facts was no defence.
However, a precedent-setting verdict, upholding freedom of speech and religion, was issued on Tuesday 29 November by the Swedish Supreme Court.
In a unanimous decision Sweden’s highest court acquitted Pastor Ake Green of charges of ‘hate speech’ arising from a sermon he preached in July 2003 denouncing homosexual behaviours.
Green was initially convicted under Sweden’s new hate crimes law, enacted in 2003, which makes illegal any expressions of “disrespect” or “incitement” “towards a
group of people,” including groups with “sexual inclinations.”
Up to two years in prison is the normal penalty under the law, but if a statement against any particular group is “especially threatening or disrespectful” or “disseminated to a large number of persons,” the crime is considered “major” and the perpetrator can be subject to up to four years in prison.
Green had been convicted and sentenced by a lower court in 2004. It was claimed by some that that he had referred to homosexuals in a disrespectful way,
but Green explained to the courts that he was referring to homosexual acts, not persons.
Green said at his Supreme Court hearing November 9. “I don't take back what I said. I still think we should be able to voice our convictions without ending up in jail and if that happens I will be showing how
ridiculous things have got.”
In a 16-page ruling the Supreme Court said his sermon was protected by freedom of speech and religion under the European Convention on Human Rights.
"We are obliged to consider the European Convention on Human Rights and the way in which the convention has been applied by the European Court of Justice," Supreme Court Justice Johan Munck said.
"We believe that it is probable that a conviction against Pastor Green would not hold up in the European Court of Justice."
The decision to acquit Pastor Green is very positive, setting a standard for the right to religious freedom and right to freedom of expression.
Pastor Green said he was now free to preach the word of God, and the decision was a relief both for him and other preachers.
Andrea Minichiello Williams, Public Policy Officer for the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship, commented ‘This decision sets a precedent and it is a very significant victory for freedom of speech and freedom of religion.’
With the Racial and Religious Hatred Bill in the UK at the Third Reading stage, the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship hope that the government will take note of this decision and consider the importance of freedom
of speech and religion, and the necessity for
Christian ministers to express their Biblically-based religious beliefs.
The transcript of Ake Green's sermon can be found at www.akegreen.org
So, we may have to rely on The British Courts preferring Human Rights legislation over a specific Act of Parliament, if you want to make and show a movie about C.S.Lewis' books.
Most Shakespeare plays, Charles Dickens' books and Tolkein's "Lord of The Rings" are all caught by the religious hatred legislation.
Indeed Christian Churches confidently expect the real deal is to ban The Bible and prosecute people for possessing one.
This would make Britain like The Soviet Union under the darkest days of Communism.
If any official fears someone might feel hatred on religious grounds, then the author, distributor and reader can be prosecuted even if they had no idea they would offend anyone.
The favourite catchall that "it may offend The Sikhs, Hindus or Moslems" is not defeated by the fact the accused can prove that every Sikh, Hindu and Moslem insists it does not.
The P.C. (Political Correctness) Industry generated over £800 million last year in The UK and is set to increase dramatically under the new legislation.
Many of the leading lights in the P.C. industry are family members of MPs or their sexual and business partners.
Many ex-MPs who lose their seats in elections can only find employment in the P.C. Industry.
A generation ago most MPs had had successful careers before they entered politics.
Now almost all MPs get a political job straight after University aged 21 and have no other skills to fall back on when they lose their Parliamentary Seat.
There is as yet no equivalent Freedom of Speech Industry in the UK prepared to employ existing or former MPs.
Until there is the Religious Hatred Industry is their main hope of rainy day employment for failed politicians.
Furthermore, The Labour Party was founded by Methodists to fight social evils such as gambling, alcohol abuse, idleness, poverty. The Party changed its name to New Labour in the early 1997 to express that mostly God-hating neo-Marxists who mostly hate The USA had gained control of the higher echelons of the Party. This impact has only been blunted by the leadership of Tony
Blair (who is hated by his Party and hates them right back) but he is so over-committed to foreign affairs that he
is more like your Secretart of State than a domestic politician.
CONCLUSION:
We need a huge prayer wave before December 19. If this Bill succeeds, then the worst is possible. If it fails, then we have a window to breathe. The reality is that if Tony blair wakes up to a problem, he can spike it in one phone call.
If Disney, Rupert Murdoch, President Bush made him one phone call...this can disappear !
There are lobbies and rallies. Christians are meeting MPs face to face and praying for them. God maybe has used this for this very purpose...to convert MPs. But the knife-edge is so delicate. God can turn this around....but boy we need your prayers !
Blood of Jesus Christ bless and defend Jerusalem, Israel, The USA, Canada and The UK.
God Bless,
